The Conversion of Paul was a revolutionary moment in his life and in the life of the early Christian movement. But it was also an evolutionary moment that built upon Paul's formation in Scripture as found in the Torah and the Prophets as well as his formation in the traditions of the Pharisaic movement in Judaism. Some might want to say he became 'someone else', quite different from whom he had been, but I think that he became more fully himself.
