A View from the Vicar

Simeon and Anna have been actively waiting for the fulfillment of God's promises to them. Then they see a young couple with their infant son, and the two older people recognize that the promise God has made to them has been fulfilled. But their joy is tempered by the realization that they will not live to see that promise completed in the resurrection of Jesus and the hope of the world to come. Just like Simeon and Anna, we wait for the fulfillment of God's promises. Truth be told, like these two faithful people, we may wish for the completion of the promises but only experience the first signs of the promise.
