As we come to the close of Advent, I warmly invite you to join us at St. Helen’s as we gather to celebrate the Feast of the Incarnation—the joyful mystery of God choosing to dwell among us.

We will celebrate Christmas Eve on December 24 at 8:00 p.m., and Christmas Day on  December 25 at 10:00 a.m.

Both services will be presided over by The Very Reverend Peter Elliott. I will be preaching on Christmas Eve, and Peter will preach on Christmas Day.

On Christmas Eve, we will be led in music by the St. Helen’s Choir, under the direction of our Music Director, Dale Throness. On Christmas morning, we look forward to welcoming Neil Robertson to lead our singing. Neil is the head librarian at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Both services will use modern-language liturgy from the Anglican tradition and will include the celebration of the Eucharist.

Christmas is the Church’s great feast of joy: a time when we proclaim that God has journeyed with us on our pilgrim way and continues to meet us in the midst of our lives. In bread and wine, word and song, silence and community, we welcome Christ again into our hearts and into the world God so deeply loves.

Whether St. Helen’s is your spiritual home or you are finding your way back to church this season, know that you are welcome. I hope you will come and celebrate Christmas with us.

In hope and joy,
Deacon Jeffrey
