Alfred was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. Both his parents were born and raised in Victoria, B.C.
Alfred and his wife, Marjorie, were married in 1969 at All Souls Anglican Church in Leichhardt, a suburb of Sydney, NSW, Australia. They have two married children, Mandy and Debbie. Debbie has two children, Mila and Markus.
He trained to become an Electrician at Vancouver Community College. Alfred holds a B Contractor’s License in the Province of British Columbia. He was employed by the City of Vancouver for twenty-eight years as an Electrical Inspector.
Alfred and Marjorie have been attending St. Helen’s since they moved to Point Grey in 1972. His two daughters attended Sunday School at St. Helen’s and served as Crucifers.
Alfred is the property Manager at St. Helen’s and has held this position for the past twenty years. He also serves as a Sidesman at Sunday services and on occasion as a Coffee Host.
Alfred enjoys barbequing and has been involved in many social events at St. Helen’s, including Shrove Tuesday pancake suppers.
Alfred is a blood donor and has donated over 150 units of whole blood.
He continues to volunteer on the Kitsilano Community Centre Board and the Vancouver Emergency Community Telecommunications Organization.
In 2015, he was the recipient of the Order of the Diocese of New Westminster for his dedication to St. Helen’s Church.
